The 2012 Ann Chapman Holiday Lights:
A Metro Nashville Tradition for Celebrating the Season

It’s the 25th year of the competition and the Metro Beautification and Environment Commission would like as many Nashville residents as possible to join in the celebration.

The event is open to all residents of Davidson County and sponsored by Mayor Karl Dean, Metro Beautification & Environment, Metro Public Works, NewsChannel 5 and Nashville Electric Service.

The deadline to enter is Wednesday, November 21, and judging begins on December 3. Winners will be selected in each of the 35 Council Districts, and the County Wide Winner will be announced live on NewsChannel 5’s 6:00 p.m. newscast on Friday, December 14.

  • Contest is open to all Davidson County residents.
  •  2011 Countywide Winner is not eligible for 2012 Competition.
  •  Environmental Elements judging criteria include recycling, energy conservation,nature themes.
  •  All lights must be on by 6:00 p.m. from December3-December 7 to be judged.
  •  One (1) award will be presented in each of the 35 Council districts.
  •  Five (5) regional winners
  • One (1) overall winner

Judging will be based on the following criteria:
First Impression 25 points
Design 20 points
Originality 20 points
Environmental Elements 20 points
Suitability to site 15 points

District Judging December 3-4
Regional Judging December 5-6
Final Judging December 7
Regional Winners showcased on NewsChannel 5 December 10-13
Countywide Winner announced on NewsChannel 5 at 6 p.m. December 14
